Chaos and fighting in one of the prisons in Italy. It is about a revolt that started on Tuesday afternoon in the Piacenza prison, where in a wing of the Novate IEVP, there was a clash and the intervention of the police forces was required.
It is not yet known what happened, but Italian media reports that police troops equipped with helmets and shields have intervened in the prison. Also, due to the situation, numerous police forces from other cities have headed towards Pisacenza.
Reports indicate that the signal for a prison revolt was given on Tuesday morning when flames broke out in one of the cells.
An ambulance sent by 118 and fire crews were seen arriving at the scene, but their intervention was no longer necessary.
A few days earlier, on Wednesday 9 April, in an urgent note addressed to the prefect Paolo Ponta, and for information to various authorities, including the mayor of Piacenza and the head of the prison administration department, the unions had requested an "extremely urgent meeting to concretely assess the possible risks currently affecting staff".
