Hell returns to Gaza, Macron warns Netanyahu: The plan to eliminate Hamas risks

Israel has carried out massive airstrikes in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis in what residents consider the heaviest bombardment since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas.

Residents of the eastern Gaza Strip had been notified by the Israeli army to move south. But Israel believes some Hamas leaders are still in the city, where many civilians have taken refuge after fleeing the northern areas.

Gaza's Health Ministry, run by Hamas, says at least 193 people have been killed in the latest wave of Israeli attacks.

The number of people killed in Gaza since the start of the war on October 7 has reached 15,200, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry.

On Friday, Israel resumed airstrikes against Hamas in Gaza, following the end of a ceasefire.

The Israeli military said it had struck more than 400 Hamas terror targets.

Israel has also been attacked with rockets by Hamas.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a press conference on Saturday evening, vowed to continue the military operation until the goal of eliminating Hamas and freeing the Israeli hostages is achieved.

"A tough war is ahead of us," Netanyahu said.

The Israeli side blames Hamas for the standoff, which it accuses of failing to fulfill its part of the agreement. This included "the release of all children and women according to a list sent and approved by Hamas". Israel also noted that the ceasefire agreement called for the Red Cross to visit all hostages, but Hamas refused to allow it.

On the other hand, from Qatar, French President Emmanuel Macron warned Israel that the "total destruction of Hamas" will lead to "ten years" of war.

However, in the face of this statement, Israel does not back down. Israel's war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip will continue until "all its goals are achieved," namely the destruction of the Palestinian Islamist movement, Benjamin Netanyahu said Saturday night.

Yesterday, in Israel, hundreds of people protested in Tel Aviv, demanding the release of 137 people who are still being held in the Gaza Strip. Many of them had posters with pictures of the hostages. Four former hostages addressed the crowd via video link to talk about what they experienced -- fear, hunger, lack of sleep -- during their captivity.

"Our girls saw things that children of that age, or any age, shouldn't see," said Danielle Aloni, 45, who was released Nov. 24 with her five-year-old daughter.
