The heat storm dubbed "Nero" is bearing down on the Italian boot, with temperatures rising almost daily to 40 degrees Celsius, peaking on Monday.
The heatwave will hit Italy for at least 5 days, lasting until Thursday, and maximum temperatures could exceed 40 degrees Celsius.
Citing meteorologist Stefano Rossi, the Italian media informs that the area of Sardinia and Tuscany will again experience the heat of July, although not at those degrees.
"To be honest, the last few days the temperatures have started to rise by more than a few degrees and the heat has returned. However, at least for now, the heat has been moderate and generally quite normal for this period. In the following days, the sub-Saharan high pressure, or anticyclone Nero, will strengthen further, starting from the most western Mediterranean sector, ready to pass through our country as well", notes the Italian meteorologist Stefano Rossi.
The first and clearest sign of the expected escalation of heat will be felt from today, when maximum temperatures will start to reach the threshold of 36/37°C in many areas of the center, North and Sardinia.
"Temperatures will reach 38/39° in the Po valley, and even 40° in Sardinia and in the innermost areas of the center, especially in Tuscany, while the temperatures will be a few degrees lower in the south.
