Four of the six crew members aboard a US military refueling plane that crashed in western Iraq yesterday have been confirmed dead, US Central Command said.
While the circumstances of the crash are still under investigation, USCentcom made it clear Friday that the crash was not caused by hostile or friendly fire.
The identities of the members who died are not being released, their families may be notified, USCentcom said.
The plane was the fourth U.S. aircraft lost since the U.S. and Israel began launching strikes against Iran on February 28. Three U.S. Air Force fighter jets were mistakenly shot down in a friendly fire incident by Kuwaiti air defenses earlier this month. All crew members on those planes ejected safely.
Seven American troops have been killed in the conflict, while up to 150 American troops have been wounded. The death toll in Iran is more than 1,300, according to the country's ambassador to the UN.
Both Donald Trump and US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth have warned that the Iran war will probably claim more American lives before the conflict ends.
