A passenger plane has crashed in Sao Paulo, Brazil, local media reports.

It is not yet clear how many people were on board, but the plane has the capacity to carry 68 people.

The local fire brigade confirmed that the plane crashed in the town of Vinhedo, but did not provide further details.

Brazilian television GloboNews showed footage of a large area on fire and smoke billowing from the plane's fuselage. Meanwhile, additional footage on GloboNews showed a plane moving vertically down as it fell.
