A 40-year-old Greek man was arrested today in Sparta, accused of systematically raping his 9-year-old daughter.
The arrest was made after the wife and mother of the child reported. The father is accused of rape after having committed sexual acts against his now 9-year-old daughter since she was 4 years old.
The little girl, according to the information of the public television ERT, told her mother everything she was experiencing from her father and then the report was made to the police.
The police pursued the suspect and in a police action this morning they managed to arrest the 40-year-old outside the city.
After checking his cell phone, they were shocked to find a series of pornographic photos and videos with his own child.
All seized items will be sent to the Police Forensics Laboratory for further investigation.
The family in question lived in the past years in an area of Western Attica and had moved in the last two years to a village near Sparta.
The 40-year-old allegedly raped his minor daughter from the age of 4 until today. According to Greek media reports, the case began to unravel when the younger brother found a condom and asked what it was.
He replied that it was his girlfriend's. But returning home, the little boy confessed what happened to his mother in front of his sister who was in the same room. When the girl heard the story, she burst into tears and started telling her mother about the horror she was experiencing from her father.
The 40-year-old, who has been working in a private business in Lakoni for the past few years, is expected to appear before the court in the next few hours.
