Russia has accused Israel of violating international law by attacking Syria with airstrikes.

They are said to have damaged runways and forced airports to suspend operations.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said: "In the context of the sharp escalation of the situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone, such strong actions can lead to extremely dangerous consequences, as they can provoke an armed escalation throughout the region. This should never be allowed to happen."
Analysts have suggested that Israel may have targeted Iranian weapons destined for Hezbollah in Lebanon, which would add to the threat on Israel's border. There is no confirmation of this from the Israelis.
