These are statements that partly reflect the Kremlin's bad relations with Israel after the invasion of Ukraine and at the same time place Russia, without any clear support, in line with the Arab countries.
But it is very unlikely that the Tsar will be able to go beyond these words. Like everyone, we have to see what happens. And meanwhile, like everyone else, he ponders what possible advantage he can get from this authentic "black swan" represented by the Hamas attack.
The opposition newspaper "Verstka" reports that Russian deputies and senators have been ordered to comment on the new conflict in a restrained manner, limiting themselves to pointing out for public ridicule the Russians who immigrated to Israel after the attack on Ukraine. Even propaganda programs and television channels have distanced themselves from open support for one of the parties.
The few voices outside the chorus are those of the "war correspondents", who have long been turned into megaphones for ultra-nationalist demands. To give an example, the propagandist Dmitry Steshin, one of the most popular figures in that diverse galaxy, wrote that Israel has "not even an iota of compassion." Political scientist Konstantin Kalachev calculates the war: "Putin's current position can be described with the formula "the enemy of my enemy is my friend". And so the Special Military Operation may soon turn in our favor, because we are self-sufficient, while Ukraine depends on Western countries in every way," he said.
