An investigation published by the Kyiv Independent reveals that Russia is training Ukrainian children abducted from occupied territories to prepare them for war in Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the military programs are developed by the "Warrior Center for Military and Patriotic Education", created in 2022 by direct order of President Vladimir Putin.
These programs involve teenagers from the Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk and Donetsk regions, who undergo strict military discipline and combat training, including the use of weapons and grenades, drone piloting and mine clearance operations.
The center organizes camps called "Time of Young Heroes," led by senior Russian military officials with experience in the Chechen, Syrian, and Crimean conflicts, such as Colonel Andranik Gasparyan, as well as supported by veterans of the war in Ukraine.
During 2024 alone, at least 1,290 Ukrainian children have participated in militarization programs run by the “Warrior Center” in the Volgograd region, where they receive direct training from former fighters and members of the Russian patriotic youth movement “Yunarmiya.”
The investigation emphasizes that these programs aim to indoctrinate and militarize Ukrainian minors, violating international conventions on children's rights and constituting a new form of Russian military propaganda in the occupied territories.
