Three people have been killed in a US airstrike in the eastern Pacific Ocean targeting a suspected drug smuggling boat, the fifth such operation in a week, the US military said in a statement.
With this intervention, the total number of victims in the bombing campaign in the Pacific and Caribbean reaches at least 177. These operations target ships suspected of being used to transport narcotics to the United States.
The US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), which covers the Latin American region, announced that the strike targeted a ship involved in drug trafficking activities and that, according to them, was being used by foreign organizations considered terrorist, without providing further details.
US authorities confirmed that "three male narco-terrorists were killed" during the operation, while also releasing a declassified video showing the moment the vessel was destroyed.
The United States has been conducting these airstrikes since September 2025 as part of its strategy against drug cartels in Latin America. In this context, some of these groups have been classified as terrorist organizations and are often described by authorities as "narco-terrorists."
