The creation of a "Reconstruction Investment Fund" to be jointly managed by the US and Ukraine is included in the United States' proposed deal for the war-torn country's rare earths, leaked information reveals.
These are minerals worth hundreds of billions of dollars. This fund will be designed "to invest in projects in Ukraine and attract investment to boost growth."
According to the draft agreement, the US government aims to provide a long-term financial commitment to the development of a "stable and economically prosperous Ukraine."
However, it is also proposed that the US recover some of the money it spent on "defending, rebuilding and returning Ukraine."
The draft expresses the desire for Ukraine to remain free, but does not specify any US military commitment, as was revealed a few days ago.

It also stipulates that Ukraine must contribute $500 billion to this fund and that the amounts that Kiev will contribute should be double the contributions of the US. However, this amount is not required to be paid to the US.
However, it requires that 50% of Ukraine's revenues from "extractable materials," including minerals, oil, and natural gas, be paid into the fund.
As reported by Axios, the draft calls on the US Departments of Treasury and Commerce, along with the office of Vice President J.D. Vance, to work out the details of the agreement with the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy after signing the initial framework.
At the end, the document has spaces for the signatures of Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his Ukrainian counterpart, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibikha.

Indicative of advanced discussions between the US and Ukraine, President Trump posted on Truth Social on Monday evening about the agreement with Kiev.
"I am in serious discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding ending the war and also major economic development transactions between the United States and Russia. Discussions are going very well. Like the agreement between the United States and Ukraine on the exchange of natural minerals that will be signed very soon," Trump wrote.
Then, he said that through it "...tens of billions of dollars and military equipment sent by the US to Ukraine will be recovered."

Among other things, the American president said through his post that "all leaders have expressed their intention to see the war end and I emphasized the importance of the vital Agreement on "Critical Minerals and Rare Earths" between the US and Ukraine, which we hope will be signed very soon!
This agreement, which is an "economic partnership," will ensure that the American people recover tens of billions of dollars in military equipment sent to Ukraine, while also helping to grow Ukraine's economy as this brutal and savage war comes to an end.
"At the same time, I am in serious discussions with President Vladimir Putin of Russia regarding the end of the war, as well as the important Economic Development transactions that will be made between the United States and Russia. The discussions are going very well," Trump said.
