Army expert Sean Bell stated that if Israel resumes attacks at the same rate as before the ceasefire, tens of thousands more Palestinians will die.
It claims the Israeli army has killed 5,000 of Hamas' 25,000 fighters, while the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry says 15,000 Palestinians have been killed.
That means 60,000 more people would have to die for Israel to kill all Hamas fighters, the expert said, but without taking into account the population density in southern Gaza.
The expert added that this will be too difficult for the international community to cope with. From a military perspective, it is very difficult to see how Israel can accomplish its objectives in the south.
"But it is clear that the IDF is determined to force Hamas to be true to its word, and if they are going to negotiate a cease-fire, they must fulfill these demands and fulfill them on time," he said .
The Israeli army has started the second phase of its offensive, but this does not stop the negotiations. But negotiations will become more difficult, with Hamas likely to demand more in return for the exchange of Israeli men and soldiers than women and children.
" The blessing is that both sides are motivated to seek a cease-fire, because both sides need to release hostages, but for different reasons. I expect to see a return to the cease-fire, but potentially it will be sporadic cease-fires, " said the expert./ SkyNews
