The Foreign Minister of Russia, Sergei Lavrov, held a tense conference with journalists from Skopje, where he spoke about the developments in the Balkans, specifically in Bosnia and Kosovo.
Lavrov accused the West of trying to destroy the unity achieved in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where three peoples have been struggling in one state for years.
"Don't let the West turn you one country against another. One people against another. Look what's happening in Bosnia. They have reached an agreement for three peoples to live in one state. And now they are trying to break this unity. We can spend a lot of time talking about this, but I assure you that I have warm feelings for the people of Macedonia", said Lavrov.
The Russian minister expressed indifference to the conclusions of the OSCE Summit, as well as the situation in Kosovo.
Lavrov blamed the European Union for Kosovo-Serbia relations, where he underlined that after 10 years of reaching the agreement on the Association, we still have no progress in its implementation.
Lavrov declared his support for Belgrade and described Kosovo as a region of Serbia.
"I am indifferent to the conclusions of these sessions, as they are not for the people of Europe but for four specific people and this is unfortunate"
"What is happening around Kosovo and Serbia is related to the context of what we see in the OSCE. First they reach an agreement, then they celebrate the results, and then they slowly begin to see the beginning of a sabotage of smaller and then larger proportions. I already gave you some examples of agreements that were then methodically destroyed by the West.
I remember the EU as the great mediator in many situations, which was acting on the call of the General Assembly to become a bridge between Belgrade and Pristina, and in 2013, more than 10 years ago, they declared in solemnly that they had reached an agreement on the establishment of an Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority in Kosovo. Ten years ago and nothing has happened yet. The people who were set to be the leaders of this Serbian region refused to agree to everything. And what did the European Union do? Did he ask anything from them? No. They only asked Serbia to change its position. They have already created a new document for the creation of the Association in Kosovo, which is different from the one that was signed ten years ago. And this looks like many other OSCE agreements from the past. Serbs have been told: "If you want to join the EU. They will not open another chapter for the talks if you do not take all your external political decisions of the European Union, including the sanctions against Russia". So Europe wants to convince them. They tell you that they will not accept you if they do not recognize Kosovo or at least support Kosovo's admission to international organizations. Is this for real?
I am very worried about the people of Serbia. I have seen what they have done to Belgrade. The same people who are now saying that a war is happening in Europe for the first time, in Ukraine, as if there was no war in 1999. I see that they are now following the same policy with Republika Srpska, and they are doing the same against those who are working for the interest of their people. Those who want to preserve their dignity as politicians. Unfortunately, there are very few such people while others are moving in a different direction," Lavrov said.
