Skopje and Podgorica have reacted after the threats issued by the Minister of Defense in Serbia. The President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatovic, said that any attempt to interfere directly or indirectly with foreign actors (from the region or the rest of the world) in the creation of the Government in Montenegro is unacceptable.
On the social network X, formerly Twitter, Milatovic emphasized that the 28th meeting of the Assembly is a reflection of the will of the citizens of Montenegro, who according to the Constitution are the bearers of sovereignty.
"I expect that the formation of the 44th Government will be based on the freely expressed will of the citizens in the past parliamentary elections, as well as on the program priorities that will enable the accelerated membership of Montenegro in the EU, the increase in the standard of living and construction of the rule of law," Milatovic wrote.
While in Macedonia, the Foreign Minister of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani, reacted, who also described the threats as inappropriate. He said that North Macedonia is for peace in the region.
"North Macedonia rejects interference and inappropriate remarks by neighboring officials. We stand for regional stability and cooperation, including Serbia and Kosovo. Awaiting clarification from the Minister of Defense of Serbia", he wrote on Twitter.
