Several explosions were heard overnight in the southern Ukrainian city of Odessa.
Military authorities were reported to have activated air defenses across the region. The Odessa regional military administration reported that Russian troops fired four Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea, all of which were destroyed in the air by defense forces.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the toughest fighting is on the southern front and praised Kiev's forces for repelling Russian attacks in the east.
"Ukrainian troops are advancing, position by position, step by step and moving forward," he said.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announces that nearly 220,000 Russians have been killed since the beginning of the conflict.
We recall that the UN has accused Russia of continuing to refuse the delivery of humanitarian aid to the areas controlled by Moscow in eastern Ukraine, which were hit by the explosion of the Kakhovka dam.
The burst dam flooded large parts of the Kherson region, forcing thousands to flee and raising fears of an environmental disaster.
