The White House announced the plan for the blockade, Iran mocks Trump: You are
Iranian military spokesman Ebrahim Zolfaqari

Iran's military has said the United States may be negotiating with itself, as the White House touts talks with Tehran to end the war.

Iranian military spokesman Ebrahim Zolfaqari mocked the US leadership in a hyperbolic message broadcast on state television on Wednesday, saying "the era of your promises is over," CNN reports.

"Has the level of your internal conflicts reached the point where you are negotiating with yourself?" asked Zolfaqari, spokesman for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Command, the unified command of Iran's armed forces.

US President Donald Trump has expressed optimism that a deal was close and said Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were "in negotiations right now".

But Tehran has yet to confirm the talks, saying only that messages had passed through intermediaries.

"The strategic power you once boasted about has turned into a strategic defeat," Zolfaqari said, adding that energy and oil prices would not return to their previous state until American leaders "erased" the idea of attacking Iran from their minds.

Oil prices have fallen this week after Trump raised the possibility of talks, but remain much higher than they were before the war.

Trump said on Monday that Tehran had been given a list of 15 US conditions for peace, including abandoning any plans to build nuclear weapons.

Iran's leadership has previously said it cannot negotiate with the US after it attacked the country twice during high-level negotiations in the past two years.

Four weeks after the start of the war that has killed thousands of people, created the largest energy shock in history and ignited global fears of inflation.

The Israel Defense Forces said in a Telegram post that they had launched a wave of attacks targeting infrastructure across Tehran. The semi-official Iranian news agency SNN said the attacks hit a residential area in the city, as rescue teams searched through the rubble.

Kuwait and Saudi Arabia said they had repelled new drone attacks, without saying where they came from. The drones targeted a fuel tank at Kuwait International Airport, causing a fire but no casualties, Kuwait's Civil Aviation Authority said.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard said it had launched a new wave of attacks against sites in Israel, including Tel Aviv and Kiryat Shmona, as well as US bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, Iranian state media reported.

Trump told reporters at the White House on Tuesday that the US was in "negotiations" with the "right people" in Iran to end the war, adding that the Iranians were very keen to reach a deal.

Meanwhile, stocks rose and oil prices fell on Wednesday after reports that the US is seeking a month-long ceasefire and has sent Iran a 15-point plan for discussion, raising hopes for a resumption of oil exports from the Persian Gulf.
