Egypt and Jordan have warned against any Israeli reoccupation of the Gaza Strip and called for displaced residents to be allowed to return to their homes.
These calls were made during the meeting of the leaders of these two states with the president of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, on January 10.
As Israel continues its military campaign, which it has warned will last for months, Abbas, Jordan's King Abdullah and Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi have also reiterated their rejection of plans to relocate Palestinians from their lands.
Egypt has said one of its risks has increased since the war between Israel and Hamas - the Palestinian group designated a terrorist organization by the United States and the European Union - began as most Gazans have moved south, near the border with Egypt.
Jordan has expressed concern over increasing instability and attacks on Palestinians by Jewish settlers in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Jordan shares a border with this territory.
The international community must present "a decisive stance" to demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the statement issued by al-Sisi's office said.
The three leaders confirmed that "we oppose any attempt to reoccupy parts of Gaza and people must be allowed to return to their homes," the statement said.
Egypt and Qatar are separately trying to broker a new cease-fire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza and secure the release of Israeli hostages taken by Hamas during an October 7 attack on southern Israel.
During the attack, Palestinian radicals attacked southern Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking 240 hostages. Israel responded with air, ground and naval attacks that have left over 23,000 Palestinians dead in the Gaza Strip.
Earlier this month, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said that after the end of the war in Gaza, Israel reserves the freedom to operate its army in the enclave, but denied that it would return Israeli settlers who withdrew in 2005. .
Israel occupied Gaza in the six-day war of 1967 and withdrew from this territory in 2005. Two years later, Hamas took control of this territory./ REL
