Who was the "Trojan Horse" that Israel used?
An Israeli official has stated that information provided by Tehran residents played a key role in the elimination of Ali Larijani, suggesting a high level of intelligence penetration within Iranian society.
The information, which has so far only been reported by Iranian media, has not been officially confirmed, but if verified, it is expected to have significant implications for Iran's internal security.
According to the statement made to Iran International, the operation was made possible thanks to "valuable information" that Israeli services received from citizens of Tehran over the last 24 hours.
The official added that Larijan's recent movements had exposed him. He appeared frequently in public, including at Quds Day events, and maintained contact with local and international media, which he said helped identify his location.
Larijani, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, was killed last night along with the commander of the Basij force. The news of the killing was confirmed by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, after being informed by the Israeli military.
The Israeli official also stressed that intelligence services continue to receive numerous reports from the field, which help identify the positions of Basij forces and the Revolutionary Guard.
These claims, if confirmed, indicate an advanced level of intelligence operations and could signal serious weaknesses in Iran's security structures, at a time when the country is under intense military and political pressure.
