Storm "Bert" has hit Great Britain, with snow, heavy rain and strong winds. Authorities have issued 13 flood warnings in effect across most of the country.
Flights have been canceled at Newcastle Airport due to heavy snow. At least 60,000 homes, businesses and farms have been left without power in Ireland, the Electricity Supply Board said.
Rail companies have asked passengers to avoid traveling in certain areas and some have warned of reduced services. The National Highways Agency issued a "severe weather alert" for snow to affect Yorkshire and north-east England between 5am and 3pm on Saturday.
Across south-west England and Wales, the Met Office has issued a yellow warning for rain throughout Saturday. According to authorities, the heaviest rain is expected in south Wales and south-west England, where up to 150mm could fall - which would be all of November's average rainfall in just one day.
Incessant rain is expected to last for several hours, with flooding possible throughout Saturday and Sunday. Ferry companies are also affected. Operator CalMac - which serves the west coast of Scotland - has canceled some services on Saturday.
