The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has said that the purpose of the five Western diplomats, who visited Kosovo and Serbia on Saturday, is for "Serbia to recognize Kosovo".

In a public address on Sunday, Vucic said that the conversation with the "big five" was difficult, but "there are no easy topics for Serbia".

"Obviously everything about Kosovo and M. is very difficult for us. People think that all this is only because of Banjska, but it is not. It was only tactically terrible for us and has certain consequences, but in a strategic sense, their only goal is to recognize Kosovo", said Vucic for "B92".

Vucic has said that he believes that he will find "a way out" and that Serbia will continue with "great successes in the economy, building infrastructure and preserving the essence of national interests".

"I don't want to talk about pressures, they have their own politics. Their view is completely opposite to ours, there is no great philosophy here. For them, Kosovo is an independent state, based on their decision. Who gets tired of the acts of legal norms", said Vučič.

He has announced that on Thursday and Friday he will go to Brussels and deal with all the obstacles that are placed on Serbia. He said that representatives of the opposition in Serbia wrote a letter to Brussels and requested sanctions against him for Banjska.

"This has never happened, for the opposition to ask for sanctions against their own country. They are terribly worried that there are no sanctions. They don't know what to do with themselves. It is irresponsible and frivolous action, I would say anti-state and anti-people approach. I was shocked", added Vucic.

He said that the opposition in Serbia is saying "that the fault is not with Prishtina and Albin Kurti, but with Serbia".

A day ago, Kosovo and Serbia were visited by the Euro-American five led by the European Union emissary for dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak. The team included the American envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, and senior advisers to the leaders of Germany, France and Italy.

In a meeting with Prime Minister Albin Kurti and the President of Serbia, Aleksandër Vucic, they also presented a plan to move forward towards normalization, but the details of which have not been disclosed. From Prishtina, Lajcak requested quick actions for the establishment of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority. Kurti said that security is a priority after the attack in Banjska.
