After landing with Donald Trump in Alaska yesterday, Vladimir Putin's plane was escorted out of the area by US fighter jets.
Until two weeks ago, he had faced the threat of immediate tough sanctions, but by the end of his meeting, Trump had endorsed the Russian position that peace moves should focus on a final peace agreement rather than a ceasefire.
