The US has the strongest military in the world, while the strongest in the Western Balkans region is the Serbian military, which jumped from previous years and now ranks 56th, according to the latest report by "Global Firepower" portal for the year 2024.
The Global Firepower portal ranks a total of 145 countries and territories based on their military strength, and various factors are taken into account while creating the list, according to RTS.
According to the same data, in second place in terms of military power is Russia and in third place is China. It is followed by India, South Korea, Great Britain, Japan, Turkey, Pakistan and Italy. Israel is in 17th place and Ukraine in 18th place.
As for our region, Serbia leads in terms of military strength and is in 56th place, which is a move compared to the previous report.
Behind it are the army of Croatia, which is in 66th place, and Albania, whose army is in 90th place. The army of North Macedonia is in 110th place, Bosnia and Herzegovina in 116th place and Montenegro in 129th place.
The ranking also includes Kosovo, which occupies the 135th place. Benin, Somalia, Suriname, Moldova and Bhutan are at the bottom of the list.
