
King Charles said he and Queen Camilla are "horrified and saddened by the most egregious anti-Semitic terrorist attack" that targeted the Jewish community at Bondi Beach on the first day of Hanukkah.
In a message sent to the Australian people, the monarch said that "our hearts are with all those affected, including the police officers who were injured while protecting members of their community."
He also praised the community and the support they showed to those affected in Australia, adding that the light of the Hanukkah festival will always triumph over the darkness of such evil.
"In times of pain, Australians always come together in unity and determination. I know that the spirit of community and love that shines so brightly in Australia and the light at the heart of the Hanukkah festival will always triumph over the darkness of such evil ," he said.
Prince William and Princess Catherine of Wales also sent a message, saying their "thoughts are with every Australian today".
They expressed their condolences for the victims and injured people, saying their thoughts are with the Australian people and the affected families.
