A pedophile was executed in an ambush, less than 24 hours after being released from prison.
Joao Ferreira da Silva, 46, who was serving a 42-year prison sentence for the rape and murder of 9-year-old Bruno Apareido dos Santos, was killed by two masked men in broad daylight in the city of Sinop, in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil, on December 10. The victim had been released on bail just hours before he was to be executed.
From the released video, it is clear that the crime occurred within a few seconds.

Ferreira da Silva leaves with the gunman before several shots are heard.
According to reports, he fell to the pavement and died on the spot, while the perpetrators fled. Three bullet casings were found at the scene.
The homicide unit has taken over the investigation to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive for the murder, while also examining whether the shooting was linked to his recent release from prison.
Ferreira da Silva was convicted of the 9-year-old's death in 2005. He confessed to raping and killing the child and burying the body near the scene, while Bruno's family reported him missing after he failed to return home.
Ferreira da Silva was arrested 10 days later after attempting to assault another child. Despite his initial confession, he later told the court he did not remember whether he was responsible.
Bruno's mother said she felt pain and relief when she learned of Ferreira da Silva's death.
