Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai rejected Washington's proposals to end the war, calling them "absurd."
He stated that Tehran "has not held direct negotiations with the US so far."
"What has been discussed are messages we have received through intermediaries, according to which the US wants to negotiate," Baghai was quoted as saying by the Tasnim news agency.
And he continued: "I wonder how many people in America take the claims of American diplomacy seriously! Our task is clear, unlike the other side, which keeps changing its position."
"Iran has been clear about its position from the beginning and we know very well what the context is that we are considering.
"The material that was transferred to us contained excessive and unreasonable demands," the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed.
"The meetings that Pakistan is holding are a framework that they themselves have set and in which we have not participated. It is positive that the countries of the region are interested in ending the war, but they must be careful about which side started the war," he stressed.
