The President of Israel, Isaac Herzog, has stated that the relocation of Palestinians out of Gaza is not in Israel's plans.
Speaking to NBC's Kristen Walker, Herzog was asked if recent comments made by some Israeli cabinet members, who appeared to suggest a forced relocation of Palestinians from Gaza, reflect the official position of the Israeli government.
" This is absolutely not the position of the Israeli government or the Israeli parliament or the Israeli public. In a society where freedom of speech is the basis of our national DNA, people can say whatever they want ," he said.
The Israeli president further justified himself by saying that his colleagues were talking about the deliberate withdrawal of the Gaza Strip, but not that this is Israel's position.
He said his country was fully grateful to US President Joe Biden for his unwavering stance in support of Israel.
