G7 Foreign Ministers, including UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, have issued a joint statement on the situation in Iran.
The ministers stressed that they were "deeply concerned by developments surrounding the ongoing protests."
They added that they "strongly oppose the intensification of the Iranian authorities' brutal repression" and were also "deeply alarmed" by reports of increasing deaths and injuries.
Iranian authorities are urged to "exercise complete restraint, refrain from violence, and uphold the human rights and fundamental freedoms of Iranian citizens."
"G7 members remain prepared to impose additional restrictive measures if Iran continues to suppress protests and dissent in violation of international human rights obligations," the statement said.
