Tragedy with 59 victims in Macedonia, frightening similarities to the Netflix

The series depicts the true story of the catastrophic fire that broke out in 2013 at the 'Kiss' nightclub in Santa Maria, Brazil.

The Kocani tragedy, where 59 young people lost their lives as a result of a fire in a discotheque, is being discussed in the media as an event that is surprisingly similar to the script of the Netflix series, "Endless Night."

The series depicts the true story of the catastrophic fire that broke out in 2013 at the 'Kiss' nightclub in Santa Maria, Brazil.

In that tragedy, 242 people lost their lives, mostly young students between the ages of 18 and 30, while over 600 suffered serious injuries.

The fire broke out after a band member set off fireworks during a performance and the flames caught on material in the ceiling insulation.

The theme of the series, produced in 2022, focuses on the aftermath of the tragedy, depicting the struggle of the parents and families of the victims to achieve justice and recognition of responsibility.

The series shows how much institutions have failed, from poor control of security conditions at the club, to the lack of adequate emergency exits, to corruption and slow judicial processes that have left the victims' families in agony for years.

In five episodes, viewers follow the personal stories of survivors, family members and friends of the victims, witnessing their traumas, but also their tireless fight for truth and justice. The Endless Night is an adaptation of the award-winning book 'Todo Dia a Mesma Noite' by Brazilian journalist Daniela Arbex, who through her research provided a comprehensive account of the tragedy and its aftermath.

Arbex spent years speaking with survivors, victims' families, doctors, firefighters and other key witnesses to reconstruct the events of that fateful night and explain what went wrong. The book has gained immense influence in Brazil, not only because it tells the story of one of the country's greatest civil tragedies, but also because it exposes the serious failures and negligence that made the tragedy possible.

Directed by Julia Rezende and starring Bianca Comparato, Paolo Oliveira and Thela Martins, the series offers compelling, layered and moving portraits of the people affected by the tragedy. The series was filmed in authentic locations in Brazil and the production team collaborated with survivors and families of the victims to ensure the portrayal was as accurate and dignified as possible.

"The Endless Night" is available on Netflix in Portuguese, with subtitles in many languages, including Croatian. Although it is a series, many viewers emphasize that the viewing experience leaves a deep impression and encourages reflection on the responsibility of society, institutions and individuals in preventing similar tragedies.
