Some other details have emerged after the sinking of the boat with immigrants in Pylos, Greece a few days ago, where 79 people lost their lives and hundreds more are missing.

Greek media reports that another bloody incident took place on the boat at the time of the incident, where six people died after being stabbed.

According to the information, from the statements of the rescued persons to the port authorities, it is known that this happened before they entered the Greek search and rescue zone, in the international territorial waters. However, it is not clear whether the incident occurred between traffickers and migrants or between rival groups of migrants.

The records also show that the ill-fated fishing vessel, which has so far killed 79 people (another 104 have been rescued), capsized five times during the voyage. Twice while off the coast of Libya and before entering the Greek search and rescue zone and three more times within it.

After the first two breakdowns, some of the migrants asked to return to Tobruk, but this was not accepted by the traffickers, who had clear orders to take the boat to Italy.

According to the same statements by the port authorities, "a martial law" prevailed on the ship, where the people on board were treated harshly, while the survivors say that one of the traffickers walked with a stick and beat the immigrants who protested about the inhumane conditions. They also said that even for some water they had to pay.

As for the claims that the Coast Guard vessel sank the vessel during the tow, Coast Guard sources noted that none of the 11 survivors who testified for the first time said the Coast Guard was involved in the accident.

As they say, the denunciation was made in a later statement by another survivor, hinting that there may have been outside interference to claim such a thing.

The nine arrested traffickers will appear before the prosecutor on Monday. They are expected to ask for a deadline to apologise, saying they have been unable to contact the lawyers who took over their defense over the weekend.

It is also learned that the causes of the sinking of the ship will be investigated by an EU committee, which will request all recorded conversations between the Joint Search and Rescue Center with the port guards operating at the scene, as well as with the ships that sail there. All audio-visual material will also be required.
