President Donald Trump has declared that he has solved the issue of inflation, despite the numerous turmoil that has engulfed the markets as a result of the reciprocal tariffs imposed by him.
Speaking from the Oval Office during a meeting with El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele, Trump referred to last month's consumer price report, which showed a 2.4 percent rate for March.
"We have to solve the problems and we have solved inflation. If you look at the numbers, they are credible. Even the financial markets are on the rise," Trump said.
He stressed that he will not allow other countries to take advantage of the United States as they have done for the last 40 years.
Trump also spoke about the announcement by technology giant Nvidia that it will produce artificial intelligence supercomputers for the first time in America, as a sign of the success of his tariffs.
"This is one of the most important announcements you're going to hear, because Nvidia controls almost the entire sector, one of the most important sectors in the world, consisting of electronic circuits, semiconductors and everything else. They are the best," Trump said.
The US president spoke after a turbulent week for markets, during which his administration rolled back some of its most aggressive tariffs.
Global markets rose on Monday as Trump temporarily rolled back some tariffs and domestic tensions in the US stock market eased.
