Justin Trudeau will resign as Canada's 23rd prime minister today. After nearly a decade in power, Trudeau will formally resign, which he first announced in January during a meeting at Rideau Hall.

Five days after a landslide victory in the Liberal Party leadership race, Carney will take the oath of office and loyalty and present his new cabinet to Simon in a ceremony expected to be more modest than Trudeau's grand inauguration in 2015.
Local media have confirmed some major changes that Carney will make to his first team, as he aims to significantly reduce the overall size of the cabinet, which is largely seen as a pre-election cabinet.
