A large-scale anti-drugs operation, supported by Europol, led to the dismantling of an Ecuadorian criminal group that was involved in transporting large quantities of cocaine into the EU through major ports.
The Ecuadorian National Police (Policía Nacional del Ecuador), the German Criminal Police (LKA Baden-Württemberg), the German Customs (ZFA Stuttgart) and the Spanish Guardia Civil participated in the operation.
The criminal structure targeted in Ecuador is part of an intercontinental criminal network involved in cocaine trafficking via containers from South America to Europe.
This cell organized transportation from Ecuador to Europe, managed cash flows through various companies and executives, and maintained contact with suppliers.
Criminal cells operating in Germany and Spain handled the logistical part of the operation in Europe and the further distribution of the drugs within the EU.

The day of action on March 13 in Ecuador led to:
36 arrests in Guayaquil; 50 home searches; Seizures including vehicles, documents and electronic devices.
This criminal network imported large quantities of cocaine from Ecuador to the ports of Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain.
Since the investigation began in 2024, national authorities have seized 73 tons of cocaine in Ecuador and the EU and arrested 14 individuals in Germany and Spain for their suspected involvement in the criminal group.
