
The Kremlin has acknowledged Donald Trump's apparent victory but says it is unaware of any plans by Vladimir Putin to congratulate him.
Spokesman Dmitry Peskov also said that the US remains an unfriendly country towards Russia.
Moscow is closely watching the events and analyzing statements made about it by American politicians, Peskov said, adding that relations between the two countries were at a historic low.
Trump has previously sided with Putin over US intelligence on election meddling, has withheld aid from Ukraine and has repeatedly criticized NATO.
However, he has also condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine and insisted he has a good relationship with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.
A recent book by veteran American journalist Bob Woodward suggested that Trump and Putin have spoken as many as seven times since Trump left the White House in 2021, including this year.
