President Donald Trump has unveiled the design of the new American F-47 fighter jet, which will be the most advanced model of fighter jets. Trump said that Boeing will be the one to get the contract to build them.
The contract aims to develop a replacement for the F-22 aircraft, which has been in service for about two decades, with a new, more advanced aircraft capable of operating alongside unmanned drones.
“ After a rigorous and thorough competition among some of America’s top aerospace companies, the Air Force will award Boeing the contract for the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) platform ,” Trump said in a televised address from the Oval Office. He said the contract price could not be disclosed for security reasons. But he added that the aircraft will be unmatched.
"Nothing in the world comes even close to this and it will be known as the F-47. The generals chose a title and it's a beautiful number, the F-47 ," Trump said at the White House.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, speaking alongside Trump, said the new aircraft "sends a very direct and clear message to allies, saying the U.S. is not going anywhere and will be able to project power around the globe without hindrance for generations to come."
