US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday, during the first meeting of his cabinet at the White House, that 25% customs duties will be imposed on European products "soon".
"We have made the decision and we will announce it soon, it will be 25%," Trump assured.
He said the taxes would be applied "broadly," although he specifically said they would hit car imports.
This is the level of tariffs expected to be imposed from the beginning of April for Canadian and Mexican products as well.
