Venezuelan opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Marina Corina Machado has expressed her willingness to take over the leadership of Venezuela after Maduro's arrest.
In her response she states: “I will bring order and democracy, I will release political prisoners. This is the moment for the citizens. Those of us who risked everything for democracy on July 28. Those of us who elected Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia as the legitimate president of Venezuela, who must immediately assume his constitutional duty and be recognized by all his officers and soldiers as Supreme Commander of the National Armed Forces.”
President Donald Trump stated that the US will consider the possibility of Maria Corina Machado taking over the leadership of Venezuela.
"We will assess whether Machado can lead the country," he said.
