China's Foreign Ministry said today that Beijing is "deeply shocked" and "strongly condemns" the US's open use of force against a sovereign state and the actions taken against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
According to the official statement, China believes that the US behavior constitutes a serious violation of international law, violates Venezuela's sovereignty, and threatens peace and security in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Meanwhile, China's Foreign Ministry and the Chinese Embassy in Venezuela have urged Chinese citizens not to travel to the country, citing a significant deterioration in security conditions.
