Ukraine will receive 6 billion euros from the EU in the next two months

Ukraine will receive 6 billion euros from the European Union in the next two months, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said on Friday.
The Ukrainian government expects to receive 4.5 billion euros in March, and another 1.5 billion euros in April, according to Shmyhal.

The EU agreed in February on a financial aid package for Ukraine worth 50 billion euros over a four-year period.

"This year, we intend to receive 16 billion euros from the European Union. Ukraine will have the resources to fight and win. This is our main goal and we will do everything we can for this", he emphasized.

Russia's occupation of Ukraine is now in its third year, and Kiev is heavily dependent on the economic and military support of its Western allies.

Economic aid worth billions of euros in the first two years helped the government maintain macroeconomic stability, fight inflation and make timely payments of pensions and salaries in the public sector.

Ukraine uses most of its domestic budget from revenues to finance defense.

Data from the Ministry of Finance show that Ukraine received 73.6 billion euros from foreign countries in 2022 and 2023.

But in the first two months of this year, Kiev received only $1.2 billion, as large financial packages were delayed or blocked.

The Minister of Finance of Ukraine, Serhiy Marchenko, has said that his country needs 3 billion dollars per month to overcome the year 2024. /REL
