More details are emerging about Trump's plan to end the war in Ukraine. It was initially reported that a ceasefire would be sought by Easter, but according to foreign media, the US president has a peace plan.
Media outlets such as the Daily Mail or the Ukrainian newspaper Strana state that according to the peace plan, it is expected that the reconstruction of Ukraine will cost European countries approximately $486 billion. Ukraine will give up NATO membership for at least a decade.
The plan also includes the creation of a demilitarized zone run by European troops, without the direct involvement of American officers and soldiers, while Ukraine will recognize Russian sovereignty over the regions it unilaterally annexed. Ukraine will be forced to withdraw troops from the Russian Kursk region.
Although officially unconfirmed and far from the demands of the Zelensky government, media reports say that talks to end the war will begin with talks between Trump and Putin by February 20, which coincides with the third anniversary of the war, and then the US would reportedly push Ukraine to accept a ceasefire by April 20.
The fact is that around February 20, a visit to Ukraine is planned by US special envoy Keith Kellogg, who is also participating in the Munich Security Conference where he said that "Europe would be consulted, but would not sit at the peace negotiation table for Ukraine."
A peace that seems to favor Russia more is also evidenced by the friendly statement of the Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, quoted by Moscow agencies, who commented on Trump's statements about the end of the war, saying that the American president is "welcome to Russia whenever he wants to visit."
