Ukraine launched this Friday a wave of missile attacks against the main base of the Russian fleet in the Black Sea. Videos and photos released showed huge clouds of smoke rising above the building located in Sevastopol, in annexed Crimea.
At least one person died as firefighters battled the blaze at the base premises where additional forces were called.
Also, a chain of ambulances arrived at the scene, where the damage caused reached several hundred meters around.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 5 more missiles aimed at the base building were shot down by air defense systems. Meanwhile, the rocket that hit the target killed a soldier.
On the other hand, Ukrainian officials, who have claimed responsibility for a series of other attacks on Crimea, did not announce that it was Kiev that had undertaken the attack.
The attack came a day after Russian missiles and artillery hit a series of towns in Ukraine, killing at least five people, as President Volodymyr Zelensky met with President Joe Biden and other congressional leaders in Washington, where he was promised $24 billion. help
