Ukrainians in Kiev have given us their reactions to the upcoming meeting between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in Alaska next Friday.
Speaking to CNN in the capital, Artem, 33, said the meeting was just for show and described Trump as a "spineless thug."
"While they're negotiating something there, people are dying. If they could make a deal, or if they wanted to, they would have done it already ," he said.
Trump hinted on Friday that there could be "a land swap" between Russia and Ukraine as part of negotiations to end the war.
Natalya, 48, described the prospect of giving the Donetsk region to Russia to secure peace as "unfair and terrible".
"Our boys, our girls, how many have died? How many people are waiting for us under occupation, who unfortunately have no way to leave. And they are waiting for Ukraine under the threat of death ," she said.
Svitlana, 57, said she believes Putin has no intention of stopping his offensive and offered a bleak outlook on Ukraine's prospects for victory.
"We have no weapons to defend our land, we have no Taurus missiles, we have no long-range weapons. We cannot retake our territory with drones. The population size is clearly incomparable. We will wait until Putin is executed, maybe then the situation will change ," she said.
