A video showing at least three soldiers passing out from the heat during a royal military parade in Britain is doing the rounds on social media.
One of them managed to get up on his own after a few minutes. The other two were taken to the hospital on a stretcher. Seeing their colleagues unconscious, none of the soldiers gave him help so as not to break the formation and "break" the protocol.
However, this is not the first time that members of the British Guard have fainted from the extreme heat.
Prince of Wales William reacted by saying he recognized the "difficult conditions" in which soldiers had to carry out their duty.
In a message on Twitter, King Charles wrote: "A big thank you to every soldier who took part in the Colonel's Review this morning (yesterday) in the heat. Tough conditions but you all did a great job. Thank you!
Yesterday, for the first time in Britain this year, the thermometer exceeded 30 degrees Celsius. At Heathrow, the temperature reached 30.5 degrees Celsius and Surrey 31.2 degrees Celsius.
According to Britain's Met Office, the 30 degree Celsius mark was crossed earlier than in the previous 20 years.
