With the deaths of Yevgeny Prigozhin and Wagner group number two Dmitry Utkin in a plane crash last night in Moscow, the mercenaries will have to choose a new leader to lead the private army of over 5,000 members.
And the most important name left in the ranks of mercenaries who could take the lead is one of Prigozhin's closest friends, known as a cold-blooded killer of the war in Ukraine.
It is about the 42-year-old commander Anton Yelizarov, who considers the members of the mercenary group to be "knights" and seems to be one of those who supported the revolt against Vladimir Putin.
Expert Samantha de Bendern told The Sun that Yelizarov's name as the new leader has been circulating in various Telegram groups in the immediate aftermath of the chaos that ensued when Prigozhin's plane crashed.
"It is a young man, Yelizarov, who is the only surviving leader from Wagner's dome," said the expert.
Known by the nickname "Lotus", Yelizarov is believed to have been involved in the group's movements in Belarus and commanded Wagner during the war's bloodiest battle in Ukraine.
He led the bloody offensive on Soledar, where many Ukrainian and Russian soldiers were killed during the five-month battle, and was later named "conqueror of Soledar" by Prigozhin.
Despite starting his military career in the Russian Armed Forces, Yelizarov is one of those who has turned his back on Putin and devoted himself to the mercenary group, which includes some of Russia's most dangerous prisoners.
In an interview conducted earlier this year for the Wagner-affiliated Telegram channel "Zona Gri", Yelizarov openly expressed his loyalty to the mercenary group.

Anton Yelizarov mori pjesë në aksionet ushtarake në Siri, përpara se të punonte në Republikën e Afrikës Qendrore dhe të komandonte një njësi në Libi – ku ishin vendosur mina tokësore ilegale nga trupat e Wagner.
Ai mendohet se i është bashkuar grupit rreth vitit 2016, pasi u dënua për mashtrim nga forcat ushtarake ruse.
