Pope Francis has reiterated his call for peace, as he prayed for the people suffering in Myanmar, Ukraine, Palestine and Israel, and emphasized the fact that the only ones who benefit from war are the arms manufacturers.
"Peace is possible. Good will is needed. We continue to pray for the tortured Ukraine and for the people of Palestine and Israel. Peace is possible, it requires will. Peace is possible, let us not surrender to war. And let's not forget that war is always a defeat. Only the arms manufacturers win ," said Pope Francis in his weekly Angelus blessing.
Meanwhile, the Hamas health ministry has reported that the number of Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks is over 13,000 and that 30,000 others have been injured in Gaza.
In its latest update on the death toll, the ministry said 13,000 people, including 5,500 children, had been killed since October 7.
While Israel has reported that 1,200 people have been killed by the Hamas attack while over 200 others are being held hostage.
