Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al Thani has warned that a US retaliation for an attack on its soldiers in Jordan would have an impact on the hostage talks.
Jassim al Thani also claimed that good progress had been made in weekend talks with US, Israeli and Egyptian spy chiefs on a path forward to a new Israel-Hamas hostage release deal.
He said he hoped to present to Hamas a framework for such an agreement and get them to a place where they would engage constructively.
The Qatari prime minister added that the phase of talks could lead to a permanent ceasefire in the future.
" Israel expects more from Qatar ," he said.
Earlier, Israel's prime minister said the country expects more from Qatar in its role as a mediator between it and Hamas.
Benjamin Netanyahu said the Gulf state had "enormous leverage" over Hamas and that Doha's recent failed efforts to broker a new ceasefire deal were being scrutinized on the international stage.
