The situation in the Middle East keeps getting worse. A Shiite group known as Harakat Al-Nujaba, which operates in Iraq and Syria, warned the US that it would continue attacks unless US soldiers "leave today" from the region.
The group, Harakat Al-Nujaba, issued the statement a day after a drone attack on a post in northern Jordan that killed three American soldiers and left more than 30 others injured. Al-Nujaba did not claim responsibility for the attack in the statement.
It is unclear what the group is referring to, but regional media reports emerged after the drone strike, confusing the location where the US soldiers were killed. The militia vowed that the US presence in the region would be eradicated and warned Washington that it would pay a heavy price for every day that goes by without the withdrawal of its troops.
In the statement, the group called on the United States to learn from last night's incident and leave immediately, stressing that failure to do so would result in an extremely heavy price.
" Your barracks and bases know very well that we do as we say... [the US] must learn its lesson and leave today," the statement added.
The United States has carried out retaliatory strikes against Iranian-backed militias in the past, including one earlier this month in Baghdad that killed a senior al-Nujaba commander.
