Negotiators from Israel, the US, Egypt and Qatar have agreed on a framework for the release of American and Israeli hostages still held by Hamas.
A source familiar with the matter told NBC News that a draft will be presented to Hamas today and an agreement is expected soon.
The deal, agreed in the French capital, Paris, will see the release of hostages held by Hamas in phases, accompanied by pauses in fighting and aid deliveries to Gaza.
Palestinian prisoners held by Israel are also expected to be released in exchange. Negotiators reportedly included Qatar's prime minister and intelligence chiefs from other countries.
Under a ceasefire agreement in November, more than 100 Israeli hostages and 240 Palestinian prisoners were exchanged, but it collapsed after a week. Hamas still holds more than 100 hostages in Gaza.
Ceasefire and reaching an agreement between Israel and Hamas would be much needed with the extremely tense situation in the Middle East. Especially after the killing of three American soldiers in Jordan.
A ceasefire this evening would give breathing space to Gaza, which has been under constant attacks for weeks.
