A new video showing a physical altercation between Alex Pratt and federal agents has been released, more than a week before he was shot dead by Customs and Border Protection agents.

A representative for Pretti's family confirmed to CNN that the man in the video posted on Wednesday is Pretti.

In the video released by The News Movement, Pretti is seen yelling at the agents and kicking the taillight of their vehicle as the agents drive away. The agents stop, get out of the vehicle and tackle Pretti to the ground. The fight in Minneapolis lasts only a few seconds before Pretti gets up. A gun appears to be tucked into his waistband, but it is not clear whether the agents noticed it. The agents do not take the gun from Pretti; instead, they walk away. It is not clear what happened immediately before or after the footage.

The Department of Homeland Security said it is reviewing the footage.

The News Movement released the video after reviewing footage of protesters and federal agents filmed in the city 11 days before Pretti was shot and killed. The footage was filmed less than 2 miles from the site of Pretti's deadly standoff with federal agents.

In the video, Pretti is wearing a brown hat, brown jacket, light-colored hoodie, and beige pants, similar to the outfit he was wearing the day he was shot to death.

Another video shows a different angle of the scuffle between Pretti and federal agents, who are seen getting out of a vehicle and confronting the 37-year-old before wrestling him to the ground in front of screaming witnesses. As car horns can be heard in the background, Pretti eventually manages to break free, and the agents are seen using some kind of smoke device before driving away. A passerby is then heard asking Pretti how he is, to which he replies, “OK.”

“A week before Alex was shot in the street, despite posing no threat to anyone, he was violently attacked by a group of ICE agents,” said Steve Schleicher, the Pretti family’s attorney. “Nothing that happened a week ago could justify the killing of Alex by ICE on January 24.”

CNN previously reported that Pretti, a 37-year-old intensive care nurse, had a run-in with agents about a week before his death and was known to federal authorities. According to CNN sources, he suffered a broken rib when a group of federal officers tackled him to the ground while he was protesting their attempt to detain other people. It is unclear whether this encounter is the one filmed by The News Movement. DHS said in a statement Tuesday that “DHS law enforcement has no record of this incident.”

A Minneapolis man told a local media outlet that he saw a protester hit the taillight of an ICE vehicle and be knocked to the ground by agents on January 13, as ICE monitors and protesters clashed with federal agents.

“It was a really hard kick,” the man, Andy Larson, told the Sahan Journal.

Footage shared online by Larson shows another angle of the confrontation, with Prett now pinned to the ground by officers. He is seen struggling to his feet and talking to them before a tear gas canister is fired into the larger group of protesters.
