Developments in the Middle East are turbulent. It seems that the US is fully prepared to strike Iran, giving a new extension to the conflict, which is entering its 6th day.
Donald Trump, who has demanded "unconditional surrender" from Iran, met with his national security team on Tuesday, according to the White House. Before the meeting, he spoke by phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to an Israeli source.
US officials said Donald Trump was continuing to consider all available options, while insisting that Washington was not involved in the Israeli attack at the moment. The most likely option is to use US-made bombs against fortified underground positions to destroy Iran's uranium enrichment plant at Fordow, at a great depth that the bombs available to the Israeli air force could not reach.
A senior Israeli official told CNN that Israel is waiting to know whether Trump will help complete the task of destroying Iran's nuclear program.
In his first statement following Trump's statements regarding Iran's "unconditional surrender," Ayatollah Ali Khamenei wrote on X: "In the name of the noble Haidar, the battle begins."
Then, in a message in Hebrew, he said that "we must act forcefully against the Zionist terrorist entity. We will not show leniency towards the Zionists."
During the night, Israel and Iran exchanged attacks. Specifically, Israel targeted Area 18 in Tehran, where munitions are manufactured. For its part, Iran launched a series of attacks, mainly on Tel Aviv, using, according to the Revolutionary Guard, for the first time the Fatah-1 medium-range supersonic ballistic missile.
The Revolutionary Guard claims to have “full control” of Israeli airspace. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement about the midnight attacks on Israel, saying that Fatah’s “powerful and flexible” missiles penetrated Israel’s missile defenses, “sending a message of Iran’s strength” to the rival country.
The statement published by Iranian news agencies said the attack "showed that we have gained full control over the skies (airspace) of the occupied territories (of Israel) and that its inhabitants are completely defenseless" against Iranian attacks.
Meanwhile, new explosions have been recorded in Tehran. The Iranian news agency Nour News reports that an explosion occurred in eastern Tehran, in the Hekmiyeh-Tehran Pars region.
The United Arab Emirates' Foreign Minister has called on the UN Security Council to take "urgent and necessary measures" to achieve a ceasefire between Israel and Iran.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan said diplomacy was needed to "prevent the situation from escalating with serious and long-term consequences."
He also warned that "reckless and wrong actions" could lead to an expansion of the conflict beyond the borders of Israel and Iran and called for urgent action to end hostilities "before the situation gets out of control."
A pro-Israeli hacker group called "Predatory Sparrow" has claimed responsibility for a cyberattack against a major Iranian bank.
The group claimed on X and Telegram that it had deleted important files from Bank Sepah. The composition of the hacking group is unknown and it is not clear if there is any possible connection to the Israeli military or Israeli intelligence.
Iran's National Cyber Security Agency claimed that Israeli hackers attacked the country's digital infrastructure with the aim of disrupting public services, without specifying what the results of the attack were.
According to information from foreign networks, several ATMs have been put out of service.
On the other hand, the Iranian regime has urged citizens to delete WhatsApp from their mobile phones, claiming without specific evidence that the messaging app collects user information to send it to Israel.
The app, which is owned by Meta, said it was "concerned that these false reports will serve as an excuse to block our services at a time when people need them most."
"We do not track your exact location, we do not keep logs of messages that users send, and we do not monitor private messages that users send to each other," she said.
"We do not provide bulk information to any government," he added.
