During Sunday Mass in St. Peter's Square, Pope Leo XIV delivered a clear message against war, emphasizing that religious belief should not be used as a reason for armed conflict.
"Jesus, the King of Peace, rejects war. No one can use it to justify acts of war," the Pope said during his speech.
He also emphasized that the prayers of those who incite war are not accepted, while God, according to him, stands by the oppressed and victims, giving them support and comfort.
The Pope's statement comes at a time when international tensions remain high, with the conflict between the US and Israel against Iran entering its fifth week, as well as Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine.
Indirectly, he raised concern about the use of religion by political leaders to justify their actions, calling for peace and reflection in a period filled with global conflicts.
